I have been coming to BiLT events in Australia for some time and I have always appreciated the knowledge sharing from the Speakers to the social activities. But what stood out this year for me was the range in who was attending, and this goes beyond the balance of gender diversity, into a healthy mix that represents our greater community
My intentions of going to Xcon were to see how the American's are doing things. Seeing that the maturity of Bluebeam users and industry in general in the USA is greater than how we are using the software in Australia, I thought that it would be a good opportunity to learn from the knowing.
To help you understand my explanation of these Training Days, I need to let you in on something....I have spoken at breakfast group demonstrations around Australia and have had many interactions with clients where I consistently see that people just aren't aware of the full functionality of this software.
Hats off to the BIM community for sharing their experiences, it is estimated that it takes about 20hrs to create a 75min presentation. It’s the reward after your presentation of your peers shaking your hand and thanking your for efforts, that's a feeling can't be bought off iTunes.
How is your Bluebeam experience coming along? Are you using the Bottom Panel? Have you tried using the Count tool? A great feature, but the Out Of The Box Counting tools are simplistic. So how do you make a counting tool? It's not hard, but I want to share with you some of the little tricks that I have learnt that help improve their appearance and functionality.
I was in class the other day when one of the Clients asked me about modelling a Planter Box. Sure I say, but I worry about their skill level, as this is a Revit Fundamentals class. So I started thinking… can get Model-in Place Elements to update Parametrically?
I wish that I was using this when I was a CAD Manager! That’s not to say that I didn’t have this tool available, I just didn’t know how to use it. I am referring to Bluebeam Revu's Sets. In my experience, had I used this Software properly while I was still a Drafting Manager, I could have saved a significant amount of time.
I do appreciate a good QA system. As a young Draftsman printing up my drawing set, giving it to the Senior Draftsperson to review. But as soon as the piece of paper went into the manila folder and into storage, the data just dies right there.
ou know the option, the one that you pick in space at the top left of your screen, then click and hold the right mouse button and release it on the bottom right of the screen? This is the Selection Window option. Inverse this, or right to left,? This is the Selection Window option. Straight forward, right? And you're probably using this tool every day, every hour! But Drag Elements on Selection, is the Achilles heel of this function.
The biggest failure of the AEC community could be that we keep dynamo on the shelf gathering dust until the highly complicated projects come along where intricate curves and patterns for structure or facades come into play.
The Project Browser is a Map to the Data lies beneath all the modelling and annotations that we pour into our Revit files.
Revit 2017 new Text editor is a welcome change, but it creates it's own workflow issues that no company can avoid.
